I'm quite new to this at first I thought I had lice 😫 so I bought a lice kit and no relief to the itching and crawling sensation. So I bought antifungal wash and shampoo little relief. So I decided to go to the doctor and was prescribed a shampoo in which I've been using every 2 days as advised. I'm so damn miserable I don't eat, sleep or go anywhere like I used to. I'm embarrassed and self conscience. Please lmk if my symptoms sound familiar. Also I find little flakes in my clothing and bed so… read more

Yes I have the itchy, burning and crawling sensations in a variety of areas on my scalp. It fluctuates really where but mostly in the front and f my scalp is where it's no stop most of the time. I'm surprised I can sleep at all but sometimes wake up scratching. When I'm awake I distract and prevent myself from scratching and just lightly massage. I thought I still had like lice as I did in the summer and my scalp has not been the same since unfortunately I feel it triggered it. It's awful I had it checked by several different professionals to and they all tell me I don't have it. I've been to the dermatologist twice and going to another in Feb. I went to the lice clinic twice since and have been cleared as well as by my school nurse. I am a teacher. It's embarrassing telling them I think I have it. I think people that don't have Seb derm don't get it. So far I haven't had anymore relief and sometimes it even gets worse with what the dermatologist perceived. I've been on shampoos, foams, and creams with no success at clearing it up. Some days are a little better than others but I always have the itchiness. I swear My hair is thinning too and my hairline in front where I feel it most of the time has white and speca in it that it appears Iloat she me hair there too so I'm take ng biotin multi vitamins gummies. I think it helps. But trying to clear up this seb derm. Just trying some things very the counter stuff that seems to help as much if not better than the prescription stuff. Just not under control yet. So frustrating. You can also search this site for things that might help ever reacts differently to stuff though which is the hard part. There is not one for all like I said I'm still working on it. All the best.

Your symptoms, including the crawling sensation, flakes, and yellow or gray debris, sound consistent with seborrheic dermatitis. This condition can cause intense itching, flaking, and discomfort, especially in oily areas like the scalp, neck, and upper back. The crawling sensation may be due to irritation or inflammation of the skin.

Here are some tips to help manage your symptoms:

1. Stick to the Prescribed Shampoo Routine: Use the medicated shampoo as directed by your doctor. Common options include selenium sulfide, ketoconazole, or ciclopirox shampoos, which help reduce yeast and inflammation.

2. Avoid Scratching: Scratching can worsen irritation and lead to infections. Try to keep your nails short and clean.

3. Moisturize: Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to soothe dry or irritated skin.

4. Wash Regularly but Gently: Cleanse affected areas with lukewarm water and avoid harsh scrubbing.

5. Lifestyle Adjustments: Stress can trigger flare-ups, so consider stress-reducing activities like yoga or meditation.

If your symptoms persist or worsen, follow up with your doctor or dermatologist. They may adjust your treatment plan or explore other options. You're not alone in this—many people with seborrheic dermatitis share similar struggles. Stay strong, and don't hesitate to seek support from others who understand!
