I was diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis in May 2022 following COVID-19 infection. Around the same time I started losing hair in various places. Ultimately, I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. There is plenty of research which suggests links between COVID-19, various COVID-19 vaccines, and autoimmune-related hair loss. It has been hypothesized Seborrheic Dermititis could be caused by an autoimmune response too. Stress, genetics, and more are also part of the picture. A lot to consider and explore. Ultimately, I hope we all find acceptance... I am moving toward it.

Lee.. Hmm! Do you think it might be parasites which Ivermectin tackles? I have to say I do not have any scalp irritation. Just shedding. I have sebderm on my face, not my scalp. I control it with organic Francincense oil.

Probiotics

Bacteria often get a bad rep, but some strains play an important role in human health. Though probiotics are widely-praised for their gut health benefits, these supplements may also help reduce skin ailments. For instance, one study found that participants who consumed probiotics daily improved their scalp dandruff and seborrhea symptoms while reducing scalp inflammation. As a result, researchers concluded that probiotics help restore the balanced ecosystem of microorganisms residing on your scalp. Other research shows probiotics could enhance skin barrier and immune function. Dosing of probiotics varies rapidly based on the numbers of species present, the amount of colony forming units (CFU), and overall strength of the strains. While we don’t have an affiliation with them, Just Thrive’s Probiotic is the first choice for many of Dermazen’s team members due to its ability to survive past stomach acid. However, you might need to experiment with a few types of probiotics to find the best choice for your body. You can learn more about probiotics in our article, Probiotics for Dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis: Do they work?

Hyaluronic Acid

This natural substance serves as a cushion and lubricant in your eyes and joints. Currently, the claimed benefits of supplemental hyaluronic acid (HA) are vast—from relieving dry eyes to battling acid reflux symptoms and joint pain. However, the effects of HA on the skin should not be ignored. In 2017, a study found that oral supplementation of HA increased skin hydration and elasticity and reduced skin roughness and wrinkle depth. Nicknamed ‘Nature’s Moisturizer,’ HA plays a vital role in preserving tissue hydration. It also facilitates the transport of nutrients and ions to the outermost layer of the skin, owing to its powerful water-retaining properties. Most research recommends a daily dosage of around 100-200mg of HA for adults.

Thank you all, I can relate to you all. I've always had long hair and would always put it in a French braid. Now my hair is so thin. I've never had any sores until the other day. I have bought some shampoo with Tea tree oil. It seams it works for a week. So then go back to my Head n shoulders with tea tree. But if zi don't keep up with washing my hair every day. I start to get really itchy again.
Thank you Jason for your information. My son is 47 and going through everything you are. Was very interesting to hear what your going through. My son has lost all body hair to his eye lashes and brows. He had alopecia arrest back in his high school years and we thought it was back. Very interesting that you are going through the same thing. I will have him check out those links on YouTube.

Kathy, yes Ivermectin is proven to help reduce demodex. I do not have one mark on my face, using a thin, and I mean thin, layer of Ivermectin cream nightly! I do fluch when I get too warm, like in Rosacea, but then again, the latest science believes Demodex and most acne is caused by an overgrowth of this natural microbiota, that WE ALL HAVE! Sure, some folks will only have a few, very few, and never cause any problems. Then there is unlucky folks, like me with a gazillion, ugh!
