Nothing pertaining to SD, but actually it is associated with SD. So I I was wondering if anyone has had hair loss and suggest a shampoo to use for this reason. Besides ketoconazole. I’ve been researching and not sure what to try. For specifically thin/ greasy/oily hair. I thought about Nutrafol, but need someone who has actually used it and their thoughts on it. And it also has ingredients that are supposed to help with inflammation, scalp issues and hair loss. And it’s expensive so that’s why I… read more

Donna3,
Hi. I have the same problem with my hair. The ketoconazole was killing my scalp. See if your MD will change your shampoo to Ciclopirox 1%. I find it more kind to my scalp. It says on the back, to use it twice a week. I alternate that with Neutrogena T-Sal, Neutrogena Anti-Dandruff Shampoo with Apple Cider Vinegar, and Clr. (Very expensive), and I use it only occasionally. For hair loss, I have started to use Actonis, it is a hair loss wand. According to my dermatologist, I have male pattern baldness. I use no shampoo for hair loss because I have SD. I have used the wand for two months and my hair is starting to grow back My hairline was receding and a clump fell out on my right side. I take OMI vitamins (on QVC), expensive, but I don't know if they will help yet; although, my hair seems to be shedding a lot less. See if you can get any PRP treatments for the scalp. I have paid for two, but I have not had them yet. They are very expensive, but I am getting them done at a beauty school, for a much cheaper price.

My dermatologist recommended Nizoral. I buy #4 which is designed for color treated hair. I have done well with that.

Great advice Karen. I’m using ciclopirox products and they are very effective given time to test. Like you I am using it 2 or 3 times a week gel wash for my face (Another product) and ciclopirox cream for my face. It is slowly getting relief. I like the way you let it sit on your scalp 2-3 minutes before tinting it off.
