I Have Been Diagnosed With Seb Derm Yet Whenever I Try Traditional Treatments My Scalp And Hair Hate It. Could It Be Something Else?
Diagnosed in June. Always told mild. Started trying to treat back in December yet every time I do it is disasterous with loss of hair and a scalp reaction. Even had a biopsy in March and they said "probable" seb derm and AGA. I have so much hair loss when I try to treat it it doesn't make sense. Is there a mimicker out there? What else could it be? I have always been concerned I have something autoimmune/immune related happening since the loss has expedited. Yet every time I ask they say no. Iā¦ read more
Gosh! What a mystery. Some people see some improvement with Zoryve Foam. You've probably seen the ads for it on this website. It's a newer product, and quite expensive. Maybe your insurance will cover it. Good luck!āļø
I've been washing with antifungals (the shampoos I mentioned). I was even given a prescription for oral fluoconozole and at one point itraconozole and they not only didn't seem to change my situation much, I seemed to have more hair loss after taking. I am trying everything in the playbook and am worse off now than ever,
Is it possible you have a fungus? I think we all do to some degree. There are special shampoos for fungus I'm told. Haven't used one yet, but I probably will. Good luck.
Hi again, how about some gentle oil? I like Neem or Moroccan, and I don't put too much on my scalp; about 2 teaspoons. (I have short hair. Add a bit more it you have longer hair) I like to gently apply it to my scalp starting in the front, using the tips of my fingers. Next, I put a warmed dry towel over it which I put it in the dryer to get it warm. I reheat it a couple of times. 30 Minutes is long enough. I shampoo twice with one of my many shampoos, & towel dry by gently patting my head. I don't "rough wipe", which could possibly cause some breakage. I let it finish drying naturally. I gently use a wide tooth comb or brush and carefully, briefly, comb through it. Be careful not to "pull" the comb through. That's it. It doesn't look too snazzy, but that's ok. I won' t wash it again for 3 days if possible. My hair might still be a bit oily, but my scalp hopefully won't be. I don't expect my scalp to be free of flakes or plaques or sores, but it should be somewhat better, and I feel good about trying something that just might help.
Thanks. I've done a ton of labs and all of them are good. I never have itching or flakes. I have extreme dry scalp which has made my hair extremely fragile. No moisture at all. Vanicream dandruff was devastating as was Head & Shoulders Bare. Way back ketoconozole was a problem. Those other things would be equally devastating. And that's my point. I'm not sure I have seb derm but something else that causes scale. Otherwise, how could every fix be so devastating? I'm better off not treating. I had been using SEEN products and while they weren't solving anything with the scale, it didn't seem to be a devastating loss every time I used it.
