What Is The Best Over The Counter Shampoo People Have Used To Find Relief?
I hate using harsh prescription shampoos and I think they can make things worse or don't work.
Lisa,
I just bought the head and shoulders bare, and I use it in between the coal tar shampoo and Neutrogena T/Sal Salicylic Acid. I was using clean and clear and liked that one too. I think me personally in my case it works better when I alternate the shampoos. I don’t use any prescription other than cream for my face, then I mix it with a good moisturizer. A good rinse in baking soda has been effective for keeping that oil off my scalp. Be sure you apply then rinse well. We live in the area of the flood and the chemicals has really affected my scalp and skin so my husband installed a water filter on my shower. Already my skin of feeling softer and looks better. The chlorine and fluoride and other chemicals in our water system is very harsh. He installed this weekend so I can have a better review in a week or longer but my skin feels cleaner.
Hope this helps and sending you hugs.
Dr. Bronners is pretty good. I had luck with Selsun Blue [organic]. There's so many. Rosemary [avalon organics]. Some Tea Tree based Shampoo's are good too. Right now I'm using Suave, which is pretty good.🧡
Let me know how you like the head and shoulders bare after a while..I have been using it for about a month and as I said it's been ok, better than anything else I've tried. However in the winter especially my hair gets dry and static. I use conditioner too to moisturize it and my hair gets soft almost too soft but I still have the static problem even when using the head and shoulders bare hydrating one and conditioner. I find I have to use aloe vera and have a hair lotion kind from Garnier, however even though I use half a squirt it weighs my already fine hair down and makes it look even more flat. Volume spray or hair spray just makes my hair more itchy, doesn't work, makes it too sticky, or again weighs it down. I'm just kind of stuck what to do. I've even tried an ion hair dryer. If I don't use a hair dryer and let it air dry it's even more itchy. I'd also be interested in your review ina couple week of the water filter in your shower and if it was easy to install, what brand. Thank you .
Hi Mary Ross,
Thanks for your reply. Yes that was me. I'm using head and shoulders bare right now with some success, but still have some itchiness and soreness and it's not always in. the same spot. I haven't had a complete day with out any symptoms yet, it just minimizes it. I have heard that there is no cure to have Seb derm completely gone. I was just looking for alternatives and I have heard switching is good. I'm just afraid some of the other shampoo are harsh on our scalps and I don't want to irritate my scalp anymore.f
Lisa,
You might want to use your regular shampoo one day then the coal tar and keep switching every other day. Personally I too, had worse break out and more oily skin using the harsh shampoos. Look up epson salt and Dead Sea salt water baths and let the water with the salts bath your scalp and face. It will dry you out, but you will see some results being positive. It just takes a lot of time to soak your scalp and face in the water. People have actually healed from using these methods and cured their Seb Dermititis . Check it out on the internet. I use a hand full of baking soda also it helps spots your scalp.
I have read that people really like head and shoulders bare is a great alternative for gentle cleaning.
