Has Anyone Tried The Shampoo Soap Bars? Are They Any Good?

A MySebDermTeam Member asked a question 💭

Brands like Kitsch I've seen advertised. I'm wondering if the limited ingredients ones for sensitive scalp in particular would be worth a try for seb derm? There is also one with rice water and one with biotin. They all are sulfate and paraban free. I believe the one for sensitive skin in the only one that is fragrance free. Any experience would be appreciated. None are directed towards dandruff or seb derm with any of the typical over the counter medicated ingredients. I just wondered if anyone… read more

I've tried all kinds from high priced to low price but nothing seemed to help. Only thing that seems to help is blue star ointment.. just don't put it near your face.. It's also good for dry cracked feet..rub a generous amount of your favorite dermatitis medicine on your feet then cover with soaks. Your feet will thank you

Shannon, so you have tried the shampoo bars or soap? I'm just wondering because like all shampoos I've seen have fragrance in them and that can be an irritant, these soap bars do not. I don't have it on my face just my scalp so don't need an ointment for skin.

Shampoo bars like the ones you mentioned can be a good option for seborrheic dermatitis if they are sulfate-free, paraben-free, and fragrance-free, as these features minimize irritation. However, since they lack medicated ingredients like zinc pyrithione, ketoconazole, or salicylic acid, they may not effectively address seborrheic dermatitis symptoms. If you try one, monitor your skin closely and consider alternating with a medicated shampoo for better symptom control.
