My Scalp Seborrheic Dermatitis.

A MySebDermTeam Member asked a question 💭
San Jose, CA

I have used Ketoconazole 2 % shampoo for twenty days. My scalp has not got better day after day. It is itching terribly. I am wondering if my seborrheic dermatitis is getting worse or if Ketoconazole shampoo is irritating my scalp ??

Using daily of the Ketconazole, according to my Dr., will cause the Seb. Derm. to become resistant to the shampoo if used daily. She said 2 to 3 times weekly and to leave it in your hair for 10 minutes, rinse and dry afterward. Use regular shampoo on the other days. It hasn't got rid of it but slows it down. I'm not as snowy as I used to be.😀 Additionally, the seb. Derm. Thrives in moist and oily areas. For me, it's behind my ears. I'm a person that sweats easily and when I'm working, and I perspire for an extended amount of time, behind my ears become oily yet they also get dry. So dry that the skin where the bottom of my ears attach to the top of my neck will literally Crack and bleed. I'm trying something different by dabbing the sweat off and keeping the area more dry. I'll see if there is improvement 😉
